This book is solid and complete, however has some flaws: front cover stained, about half the pages have 3-4" mild water ripple lower corner, 3 pages have a tear. A name inner front board, no other writing found. A great copy to use in the kitchen, and for a loaner.

Clean and attractive, red cloth-covered boards have slightly smudged white Pennsylvania Dutch silhouette decorations. Light rub to extremities, one corner minor break, no fraying. Inner boards front and back are undamaged chocolate brown with white decoration and information, flyleaf opposite each is matching dark brown and undamaged. A small dedication dated 1955 on reverse of front flyleaf. No other writing was found. Only one folded corner tip [dogear] was found, naturally on recipe for 'Starlight Cake'. Pages are bright and very crisp, seems unused, even the edges are clean. Interior no drips, ripples, damp odor, nor other use, age and wear signs. Binding is secure, no weakness no splitting. An exceptionally clean and sound copy packed with nostalgic photos and illustrations.

No print date, appears to be late fifties or early sixties. Large color portrait of 'Betty' inner cover. Pretty sky-blue covers front & back with white illustration of flour jar, sifter, etc. and red spoon with title. Light edge rub, no broken or frayed. Center back has two very small rubbed spots. Interior very mild use, there are a few minor spots and slight yellowing, carefully used. Nice thumbtabs for each chapter are unbent. Previous owner neatly typed up 2 double-sided pages of recipes on blank sheets provided in rear of book, perhaps 2 dozen left unused. Rings work perfectly and shut tightly. There are stiff guards in front & back to keep pages from sliding down into rings.
